12v Hydraulic Pumps
The hydraulic drive systems can utilize pressurized working fluids in order to deliver power
into machineries. Each of these systems has it’s own common aspects. Just like the electric hydraulic pumps, the 12v hydraulic pumps
pressurize hydraulic fluid to be utilized to drive machines. These hydraulic pumps can easily be utilized to
pressurize a fresh fluid in what is commonly known as the open loop system. It can also re-pressurize the fluid
after being driven into a motor, which is also known as the closed loop system. For both cases, pump types
should be matched to specific applications, as these 12v hydraulic pumps have its own specifications
that can match and fit into certain design scheme.
Fixed Displacement 12v Hydraulic Pumps
These pumps have set flow through that depends on its design parameter. These types of pumps are
simpler, can be easily maintained and are less expensive among all other types of 12v hydraulic pumps. The benefits
come at the expense of its flexibility to meet the process needs by changing its operating parameters.
One of the most basic types of fixed displacement 12v hydraulic pumps is a gear pump. Here,
pressure is being produced by forcing the working liquid into pair of gears that moves into the outlet. Gears can
be nested along with each other or it may be run in lines, in order to increase its performance level and reduce
noise at the same time. Screw pumps, on the other hand, forgo the utilization of gears and make use of a pair of
Archimedes spirals instead. These may look like screws having very large grooves. Within the pump, the working
liquid is able to pick up the pressure as it flows continuously through the rotating screws. This type of pump is
usually recommended for higher flow rates and low pressures.
Variable Displacement 12v Hydraulic Pumps
These types of 12v hydraulic pumps offer a varying drive. This means that, the rate of the flow along the pressure
outlet can easily be changed and regulated at the same time. These type of pumps are often more expensive and
complex.
Rotary vane 12v hydraulic pumps have higher efficiency compared to gear pumps and are more
suited for mid-pressure range. Offset concentric vanes usually run through these pumps, in order to create areas
from where the working fluids are being forced into smaller volumes while the pressure is being increased. In
terms of high output and efficiency, the ultimate pump is the cylinder design and bent-axis piston. These types
of 12v hydraulic pumps are built in the same manner as the piston and cylinder of a car engine. The bent axis
pertains to the cylinders’ alignment that provides efficiency at a maximum and can run despite high pressures.
Double action models, on the other hand, can help increase the output by means of using a piston and two
cylinders. These pumps may be very costly, but this is due to the fact that they are highly responsive as
well.
There is a wide range of 12v hydraulic pumps to suit any specific application and budget. The simple,
fixed displacement pumps usually work well for processes that do not have any varying operating parameters. The
variable displacement pumps can be connected to several machines by simply increasing its output based on the
number of machines being used and are recommended for flexible processes.
