Jet Water Pumps
Jet water pumps are commonly used to pump water from wells. In shallow wells,
you can find either centrifugal water pumps or jet water pumps being employed to do the job.
In deep well applications, the choices are more; jet water pumps, centrifugal water pumps and turbine pumps are
popular devices used to pump water.
How Jet Water Pumps Work
One of the distinct characteristics of jet water pumps is that it doesn’t have any
moving parts. The way these water pumps work is through two pipes. The first pipe is the main well pipe which
brings water upwards from underground. The second is the pressure pipe.
Jet water pumps have been found to be very efficient when they work with various combined
materials including gases, as these materials that are being pumped help to create the necessary force to move
through the pumps. Many of these water pumps are easy to operate as they are self-priming. They are designed in
such a way that they have sufficient level of vacuum at all times, making them very efficient and reliable in
drawing fluid into their inlets.
Types Of Jet Water Pumps
Jet water pumps can be categorized into four types:
-
Deep well pumps are heavy duty and can be found in applications handling high volumes, such as oil
wells which go as deep as more than 10,000 feet in depth.
-
The second type is shallow well pumps. As the name suggests, this type of water pumps is used mainly in
residential settings where the wells are shallower.
-
Convertible pumps are considered to be versatile as they can be used to pump water in either deep wells
or shallow wells.
-
Mini jet water pumps are typically used for simpler and smaller applications, such as ponds and
aquariums.
Usage Of Jet Water Pumps In Shallow Wells
These shallow well pumps are used in wells that are the most 25 feet in depth. The pump is placed above the
shallow well and operates using suction force. Through using atmospheric pressure in the narrow jet, well water
gets sucked up and pushed forward at a high speed to reach its designated point in the plumbing system.
Jet water pumps are operated by motors which drive the impeller. The function of the impeller is
to move the well water through the jet. The narrowing of the jet channel results in a force that makes the moving
water flow even faster. When water is discharged from the jet, it creates a partial vacuum and it is this vacuum
that helps suck in some more water from the shallow well.
Solar Jet Water Pumps
Nowadays many people are considering to install solar water pumps as a way to reduce their utilities bills. It is also a very nice way to
contribute to a greener environment. You can now find solar water pumps available in many brands and models to
suit various applications; such as for shallow wells, deep wells, home pressure systems, pond water system
circulation, and so forth.
Solar jet water pumps designed for shallow wells are able to provide water supply to
residence in remote areas, villages, farmlands and also livestock. Solar pumps harness the natural resource
provided by mother earth, and is meant to be a more cost efficient method if you look at it in the long run.
